As I was working a few days ago and Kent came to find me and asked me, “Do you want to go for a plane ride? Of course, I dropped everything as I LOVE to go for a plane ride anytime!!
What was going on was that the mechanics had made some adjustments on the new plane, a Kodiak, which is specifically designed for Missionary flying. It is a fairly new design and not many of them are around. Kent nor I had a chance to ride in one before. So we were particularly excited! They wanted to simulate a full flight similar to what conditions would be on the mission field. It is a 10 passenger plane and so we helped fill it up.
Here is the Kodiak and we are waiting to go for the ride.
I can’t stop smiling!
I was so excited!!! They wanted to do some dirt airstrip landings. That was fun even though it is a bit more rough. But they needed to test the modifications. And we did have a nick in the propeller when we got back on the ground. So you can see they need these flights. Apparently the missionaries around the world that are flying the Kodiaks also are having trouble with the propellers too on dirt strip.
You can see this airstrip is pretty close to the Snake River, which gives it a more authentic for the mission field.
Yes that little brown line that looks like a road on the top of that flat looking hillside was our airstrip. We landed there twice to give the pilot more feeling for the modifications and with a full flight.
The Snake River was just below us which is what you see here.
Pictures of the dashboard. Three computer monitors. Very different than most small planes.
Back on the ground and still smiling!
If you like airplanes you might want to check out the web site for the Kodiak. It is a pretty awesome plane especially for mission flying. It is at: http://www.questaircraft.com/
The pilot did a great job and we all enjoyed it tremendously. We just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Thank YOU God for surprises!
