We got a call yesterday from Kent’s sister telling us that his parents had been in a car accident. They were transported to the hospital and their car was totaled was all she knew at that point. Their youth pastor had gone with them to the ER and then gave us an early report. They both needed CAT scans and we probably going to be admitted. Dad is 92 and Mom is 88.
Wow! It about took our breaths away. We were just with them 3 weeks ago and they flew to Kentucky 2 weeks ago. Phone calls and texts flew back and forth all day. By the end they had both been admitted and mom was in ICU. But we had much to praise the Lord for. NO serious injuries, no large broken bones, no head injuries and few internal injuries that were immediately apparent… BUT they were very badly bruised and both had broken bones. Mom had several ribs broken and lung bruised and some other lung issues. Dad had a broken sternum. We did talk with several people from their church that had gone to see them and Kent’s sister had driven a stress-filled 5 hours to get to their bedside. She being a nurse(although not working presently) checked them out as thoroughly as she could. So they have a long way to recovery. But we are so grateful that God spared them.
Today was another day of phone calls and texts back and forth and they have had visitors today too. Mom is still in ICU and in quite a lot of pain. Dad is moving around a bit but also in pain. So we are praying for God’s wisdom and guidance in all of this. LeAnn needs lots of prayer and encouragement as she is the only sibling able to be there at this point.
We have shared this request with several prayer chains besides mom and dad’s church. So we are grateful for all the prayers. A prayer warrior for me and good friend, Millie has given me for my birthday several years ago a great devotional book Called “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young. This is an incredible book and the words are God inspired for me. Each time I read the entry for the day it applies so much to me. Allow me to quote the entry for today.
“Learn to appreciate the difficult days! Be stimulated by the challenges you encounter along your way. As you journey through rough terrain with Me, you gain confidence from your knowledge that together we can handle anything. This knowledge is comprised of three parts: your relationship with Me, promises in the Bible, and past experiences of coping successfully during hard times.
Look back on your life, and see how I have helped you through difficult days. If you are tempted to think, “yes but was then. and this is now,” remember who I AM! Although you and your circumstances may change dramatically, I remain the same throughout time and eternity. This is the basis of your confidence. In my Presence you live and move and have your being. “
Taken from Isaiah 41:10, Psalm 102:27, Acts 17:28
We would appreciate your prayers for them, Kent’s sister LeAnn and us too. Thanks for caring!

By the way, we were in Oklahoma when we received this news. Alicia and Slade Tennery of Rolling Retreats RV were so kind. We found out this couple are Christians. Thank you, Lord for where you placed us at this time. God Bless you Alicia and Slade!
