Ministry in January

February 3, 2015

Kent and I flew to Portland, Oregon last week. It was a quick 4 day trip but well worth it. We went for the Mission ConneXion which is a city wide missions conference. Really fun seeing all these people working together to reach the world for Christ. Our good friend and Bible College co-student Bill McCleod is the Executive Director. Check out what it is all about here:

We enjoy this conference and this year Don Richardson was one of the featured speakers. I was so excited to hear him speak again. His ministry story was a great inspiration to me as a young person seeking to follow God’s leading in my life. Don’s life story is in the book “Peace Child”. It is an incredible redemptive story. I encourage you to read it, if you never have. It was especially exciting to be able to interact with Don as his booth was right beside ours. You can hear Don tell his story here:

And part two here:

Of course we were there to talk to people that are interested in serving in missions. We and our team did that and much more talking and praying with those that came looking for guidance in steps to join a mission.

After the conference was done Kent and I got to see his sister LeAnn and husband Ken who live nearby. We all went to church and Sunday School together and then got a lunch and they took us to the airport.

We got back to our home in Phoenix and back to our normal schedule. Kent to coaching individuals into how to join WorldVenture and me back to doing the flowers etc at the local Christian College.

Then on Friday we flew out to Denver again.  It is always a privilege to be with our missionaries and co workers too. If you don’t know much about WorldVenture, check us out at:

This conference is for our missionaries and our staff. We spend two days in prayer and worship and then have other seminars and training times. These 5 days go by very fast and are quite filled with many conversations and are tiring, but exhilarating too. Kent and I so appreciate being a part of WorldVenture and love this conference. It fills our hearts with encouraging words and times of fellowship and camaraderie with these fellow servants of our Lord. God also challenged our hearts to further fulfill our roles in the Great Commission.

Here are some of our godly leaders talking together at the conference.

Kent had invited a young couple, Brad and Sarah and son Cameron to attend Renewal conference so they could get to know our WorldVenture family. They loved it and really connected with several missionaries. We are praying that God will direct them as they seek to join our mission to work overseas.

Another BIG bonus in going to Denver is that we get to stay with our daughter and family. So this time we got to hold Ivan and even babysit him for them. So very special…

Ivan has grown so much since we saw him at New Years. He is a very active little guy. His arms and legs are going a lot except for when he is asleep.

Ivan and Nick were hanging out and then I realized that Bean was checking things out too.

Kara and Nick are great parents and we loved having some time with them too. 3 Generations here.

You can see I loved being able to occasionally rock Ivan to sleep. We sure do miss this little guy!!

We flew back to Phoenix…On Superbowl Sunday about 2 hours before the big game. We did make it home in time to see the Superbowl football game and relax in the evening.

Now you can see what we have been doing these past few weeks. Thanks for praying for us. God is continuing to bless us as we strive to be faithful servants.
