Ministry, visiting Friends and team meetings while enjoying the fall colors and cool weather!

After being with mom and dad Reimer we had work to do. First, was Seattle Missions Fest for Friday and Saturday. Mission Fest was fun and plenty of people coming to talk about missions. Kent had a seminar which was well attended. Our co-worker Ginny came to help out at the booth. We also got to have dinner with a couple applying to the mission. Kent has been working with Kyle and Jeannie for several years now and they were very excited to be starting on the process to join WorldVenture. Melody and Bruce our friends where we stayed this summer came to visit and have dinner with us too. So it was a full two days.

We parked our RV house on the Church’s property where Mission Fest was held, sooo we knew we had to get out of the way. We also had to get to Portland and get the RV settled in a RV park because Kent was flying early Monday morning to Chicago!  We did just that and God gave us nice sunny weather for this drive.. as we pulled off the highway we could see a beautiful view of Mt Hood.

We got settled and Kent flew to Chicago for meetings with his team. I(Jan) stayed in Portland. I wanted to visits some special lady friends and it worked out. I first got to see Joan, who was the friend that went with me to Victoria, British Columbia in June. I also got to visit with her husband Peter. It was great to see both of them and we all enjoyed a beautiful fall day where we were able to sit outside on their deck.

Next day I got to visit Rachel my friend for many years now. Her husband was traveling so it gave us a long visit. Rachel also has had cancer and so we could relate on that level too. Rachel and my birthdays are a day apart and since our husbands wer3 not home to cook for..I suggested that we eat out. We went to “The old Spaghetti Factory!” Delicious food and wonderful company.. as Rachel’s daughter was able to go with us! So sweet!

Then I had one day to rest and Kent came back on Thursday. He had a great trip and good meetings with the other team members. We got some work done on the retreat that we have coming up. We also got to visit Brad and Sara and their three beautiful sons. Kent and I have known and coached Brad and Sara for several years. They are appointees with WorldVenture but have had some serious “bumps” in the road. Brad had tongue cancer about a year ago…  and God has healed him in some miraculous ways!!  Sara had twin boys that were born early and had multiple health issues…but as you can see in this picture they all are looking good now. Big brother Cameron was quite proud of his brothers too! . It was such a treat to see them and their family. We praise God for this sweet family and look forward to how God is going to use them in Spain.

On Saturday we drove through pouring rain most of the way to central Oregon. We again parked on a unused parking lot of a church. We were able to go to church in the morning. This is a church where we may be able to minister with them next summer, so we were trying to figure it out by visiting them and Kent meeting several people in leadership!

Sunday afternoon, we again went down the road…driving in sun and only a couple hundred miles to a town near Roseburg, Oregon. We parked in a small RV park and settled in for the week. We are here to visit some dear friends. Our co-worker Doug and we had lunch together on Monday morning. Doug was going Elk hunting so we wouldn’t see him again… On Tuesday we had lunch with Phil and Jeannie. We have known Phil and Jeannie since the days when we lived in Juneau, Alaska in 1981-82. It is always fun to see them. We got to see them a bit more through the week.

The RV park we are in is so close to the forest that we have a lot of wildlife that wanders through the Paarl at all times of day. I thought it quite brazen of the wild turkeys to come through as it is getting close to Thanksgiving…

We spent the week here doing more preparations for the marriage retreat which next weekend where we are main speakers. We worked on the PowerPoint so that we can send it ahead.

So soon we will be going down the road again… hold on for more adventures. I work hard on these videos and wondered whether you enjoy them.. if you watch it will you let me know.. just hit reply and I will see it. Thanks for your help!
