Mission ConneXion

9D16A3BE-7119-488B-928E-F435D9E753BBWe went with our friend Ed to visit his wife and our very special friend, Goldie in the rest home. After that visit we stopped by to say goodbye to Kent’s parents.

Next we drove to our dear friends house, Bruce and Melody. They had allowed us to park on their beautiful land last summer! So we were excited to see them again! We had a nice dinner that Melody made and were able to catch up some. They also were coming to Mission Connexion in Portland area. They have a great hospitality ministry to those in pastoral and missions work. So it was good to have them be able to talk to others about that as well as hear great speakers and work shops.

Kent and I left Bruce and Melody’s on Thursday am and drove to have lunch with some other dear friends. The wife had had an auto accident that has caused her lots of recoup time. It was great to catch up with them on our way to our hotel.

Our mission conference started on Friday and we wanted to be rested before so we had a quiet evening. I was particularly grateful as I had started that morning in abdominal pain and wasn’t sure what to do. Pain medicine seemed to help and resting that evening did too!

Missions Connexion is really a city wide missions conference. Many churches sponsor it and there is no charge for admission so anyone can come to hear good speakers, and attend workshops and talk to missionaries and mission representatives. So we were here to represent our mission WorldVenture, talking to people about serving God in an overseas context.  Since Kent and I have done this for many years so we know lots of the representatives too. It is always a busy but good two days.

We had a lot of help this year. Brad and Sarah are going to serve in Spain with WorldVenture. They were there, it was great to see them as God has had a hard road for them this past year with cancer and then twin sons born early…it is nice to see them so positive and holding onto God through all of this! We also had a couple from Taiwan on home assignment. And our coworker Ginny as well as young lady from our headquarters, Hannah. Also another coworker who has worked with us for several years here. It was great having everyone and all contributed well. I even had time to speak with a dear friend in another ministry who just lost her step mom that day a woman that Kent and I also knew and loved!

Two exhausting days but with many good conversations. Several couples that I talked with would be good candidates for us. So now we pray and keep in contact and see how God directs their paths. Sometimes these relationships take years in developing and sometimes things happen quickly. But God is the one we look to for the work in someone’s heart and to move them out into “His Harvest Field.”

On Friday night the main speaker was Francis Chan who has written many books but one of his famous ones is “Crazy Love.” He was so used by God in my heart that night…and I am sure in many others!

We are praying for God to send out more laborers because of this Mission Connexion conference. Sunday early we flew back to our home in Phoenix. And we were glad to be back in our own bed and home, but grateful for being used by God in this conference.

May God Bless You!
