My mother’s siblings have gotten together for lunch once a month for about 10 years now. It is always fun to meet up with them at these lunches. Several of the siblings are finding it harder to come as my moms closest sister is over 90 and one brother too. So these special lunches are a real treat!
I did mention to my two aunts present at the last lunch that I wanted to know if any of them liked gardens like my grandmother, their mother did. My aunt Ethel immediately said she did! And in fact there was going to be a garden tour near me the next week! I said “ let’s go together!” And so it was settled.
We had a great time and went to 8 different gardens. I also enjoyed the older stone houses on the properties. There are so many old houses from around 1700’s in this area. We were a bit disappointed that there were less flowers blooming but that was due to the rainy weather this spring and not the owner’s fault.
We still had an enjoyable day with lunch in the middle to visit a bit more! I was so glad as I haven’t had time over the years to get to know Aunt Ethel all that much so this was a treat!
Gratefully,
jan for the Roaming Reimers
