Leaving North Carolina in front of Hurricane Florence

We left North Carolina about the time Hurricane Florence was hitting the coast. We went over the mountains and ended up near the Smoky Mountain National Park. We had Sunday there so we went to a very friendly and sweet old time church. We enjoyed being there and hearing the gospel preached!

We then took a day to drive around the Smoky Mountains. Beautiful scenery and a peaceful day! We saw a lot of old houses and of course lots of mountains. It was a bit hazy but still beautiful!

One of the things I liked about Smoky Mountains National Park was it was entirely FREE! Apparently the folks that donated some of the land..which I understand was there ancestral land…wanted anyone at any income level to be able to come to the park anytime! I loved that and what a heritage they left! I felt very relaxed and lifted up in my soul after this day! Thank you Kent for taking the day off to do this!

On our way to the National Park, we drove right through Chestnut Hill, Tennessee where we saw the Food processing plant for Bush Beans and the visitors center. So we decided to stop for the video and to see the visitors center. It was so nice. I liked the attitude of the Bush Family staying in their home area and helping and employing the local people. How nice!

Check out the video of the park too!

It was a nice quiet stay!

gratefully,

Jan for the Roaming Reimers
