We had a fun time visiting!

After our momentous arrival, we have had a blast with Kent’s brother Ron and wife, Jan. We have done so many things with them.

So we enjoyed the sights around Lexington, Kentucky as well as the fun things we did together! We ended up staying longer than we had anticipated because of rainy weather and wanting to see our son and family one more time before heading west.

Lexington is a Horse town! I have loved horses since I was a little girl and my family had a few of them!  The 450 horse farms around town are beautiful and scenic on the rolling bluegrass hills. The area is just so pretty and makes me feel so refreshed as we drove around with Ron and Jan.

We also got to see the Thoroughbred Park downtown which has life sized horses running a race. Apparently the town used to allow a race through downtown, so I think this commemorates that. Anyway, just looking at these lifesized figures makes you want to be on one of these animals in the race! I could almost “feel” the horse under me as I looked at these figures.

We also happened to be there when Keeneland racetrack was having their September sales of horses. We got to go there for that as well as seeing the horses train on the track as well. This was not the time that they were racing just now.

After seeing Keeneland one day it was a pretty day so Ron took us to a lake, with his jet ski. We all got rides before it started raining. It was exhilarating! Can you see how hard it rained on the guys for the back window of the truck.? You can hardly see them as they were tying the tarp down.

They also took us to a play one evening. That was a fun date night!

We did get to see their two daughters..but missed their son and all the 4 grandsons. But we were grateful that their daughter Julie who lives further away had a reason to come to town. Yeah! Great to see all of you!img_9790img_9753

We also stopped in a fifty’s style diner.. Burgers, fish, fries and shakes. We each had something delicious and in the end had no room for the shakes or floats. Ohh so sorry!

It had all kinds of signs around that reminded us of our youth and the cars that were used then. And the one about Indian motorcycles reminded us of Kent’s parents now in their 90’s, when they were dating.. Fun!

We mostly hung out together and talked, visited and just enjoyed each other. The guys did a lot of talking about finances and also all the jobs they’ve had over the years. Who knows when we would be able to do this kind of visit again? It was a real treat!

Thanks again Ron and Jan. It was such a fun time!

Gratefully,
