Seeing the Creation Museum with our son and family

When leaving Lexington, Kentucky we knew we weren’t too far from the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. We had wanted to go to see this before we left the area and we also wanted our son’s family to come too. So we went to a campground nearby and invited them to come and stay with us and go to the museum with us. Silas had just turned 13 and I knew he could really take it all in. They also brought along a younger cousin Isabella aged 7 who did great too.

We had a nice breakfast then headed out the ten minutes drive to the museum. It was incredible to see . There was a 30 minute 3D video that depicted Creation from the Bible’s perspective and then walking around the museum itself. It had some nice dioramas with life-sized manikins talking about different aspects of creation. They had a nice display of insects too which was very interesting! Including some rather large beetles. We also enjoyed the petting zoo and botanical gardens which were nice,y arranged. We did have a quick lunch there to allow us to see a bit more time.

After the museum the kids wanted to play at the campground! It had a nice small lake and had boats and paddle boats to use as well as a playground. We were able to have a fire in the evening and even had s’mores to top off the day!

It was a fun time with Josh and to hear about Teresa’s recent three weeks in Kenya, Africa. We also got to see her pictures! It was so nice to see them so soon after her trip and Silas’s 13th birthday! We don’t often get to see Silas near his birthday and it was a treat!

It was a great but short family visit as they had to leave Sunday morning!

Gratefully,

Jan for the Roaming Reimers

what a wonderful experience to visit the Creation Museum. We have been there, and found, as you did, a very well-done, educational, high tech experience. I don’t think they had the petting zoo or botanical gardens going when we were there, tho. Will catch that – along with the lifesized Ark not too far away – someday. Safe travels – Nancy and Dave Vance

Hey Jan are you going down I 64 west right now? We just left tourist info about 4 miles back heading East. I am sure we passed you.
