Moving west

We traveled on the next day still driving on the little “red ” roads through the small towns and countryside. The United States has a lot more countryside than most people realize, and we find it beautiful! And usually the people are so friendly as well!

Today we drove through southern Illinois. We traveled about 200 miles and took time out for lunch along the way.

We often meet people interested in our rig and carrying our small car on the back of the truck.. it is fairly unique and many people take pictures of us or stop by to ask questions. This happened today at a rest stop. Some trucker came up to Kent and had all kinds of questions. Kent is so patient and answers their questions. I think Kent is a bit flattered as he did a lot of the work and most of the designing of this unit. So he has a right to be a bit proud of it!

At the end of this night we had found another Walmart which allowed people to stay overnight not to far from St Louis, Missouri. Another good night of sleep! We enjoyed the fields of corn and soybeans as we traveled along. Some of the farmers were out harvesting their fields as well. If you look closely at my pictures, you can see they were taken through our trucks windshield while driving… and as the day wore on we had more bugs hit the windshield so they somewhat obscured the view! Hah!

The next day we traveled through Missouri. We have many, many times traveled this highway. We were on a major road now as it was the best route. We are coming to our final long stop along this journey. We were heading for Kansas City, Missouri.

Gratefully,

Jan for the Roaming Reimers
