Visiting Las Vegas

Yes, we were in Las Vegas and we did see “The Strip” one time. But since we went there for other reasons… to see and visit Kent’s aunt and first cousin Karen and husband Tim.

As I already blogged we also met up with our daughter, 4 year old Ivan and husband Nick in Las Vegas. We went with them to see the Hoover Dam.

But after they left we had some time to check out first a Wetlands area near the city. It is actually the watershed for the Las Vegas water. It was a beautiful green park in the outskirts of the city, we enjoyed a nice walk here and the visitor center.

We also got to go with Kent’s aunt to see Mt Charleston nearby. Now when we set out it was supposed to be the hottest day in Las Vegas so far, 85 degrees. So we had prepared for that…but never were prepared for the climb to over 8,000 feet and snow capped mount that we were in within an hours drive of desert Las Vegas .

It was amazing and beautiful! There was a lodge a near the top and we stopped nd looked around and then later had lunch at another lovely venue. Aunt Chris took us there the very day after Kent’s father died, and it made it a nice treat for us! Thanks Chris!

Who would have thought that there was this kind of beauty so close to the desert of Las Vegas! A wonderful treat!

Watch this short video that shows these two places and a lunch with Chris and Karen and Tim. It was a good visit!
