We also got to go with them to deliver gifts that they bought for a local underprivileged family. That was a fun thing to do together too! It was sweet to see Ivan starting to understand this to see the joy on this family’s faces!
We have had a wonderful time with our daughter and family. We were able to celebrate in several ways. I have always wanted to see the Nutcracker ballet. Kara found a dance school that was presenting it and in a way that Ivan could attend and be able to enjoy it too. He even got to meet the dancers and even go on stage with other children to try dancing too. Ivan wasn’t too crazy about that idea though he did it.
We did get to take him to the Children’s Museum! That was a blast to watch him wanting to show it all to us. It was very interactive and he wanted us to see it all. He loved pretending to be a fireman and building a track for balls to roll down. It was great fun!
We also got to a babysit Ivan one evening, which was such fun. We played games and read some books to him, But his favorite book this time was a book that was a read along! He laughed out loud at that book!

We also really enjoyed going to his preschool and meeting his teacher. And then being able to see his Christmas program. Ivan is a bit shorter than his fellow students so it was a challenge to see him, but he was waving to mommy as almost all of them did! How very cute! Ivan is the last one on second row.

Kara cooked a delicious turkey dinner one night as well. That was also fun to be able to share with both Nick’s brother, Alex who came by for a short visit and Kent’s first cousin Shirley who lives near by.
Of course we did have some gifts to share. Ivan had fun opening first his Christmas stocking, and then each day we were there, he opened a gift. He was so excited!
We also got to see our former neighbors and that was a treat! And in the middle, Kent’s retirement which was fun too to have Kara and Nick there as well. So this was more than Christmas trip, this year! We are so grateful for the wonderful week with Kara and family!
Celebrating and grateful,
