I want to THANK YOU for following my blog. I have enjoyed doing this and knowing that people I know and some I don’t have been following for years! It was a fun way to communicate with you! I have so enjoyed chronicling our lives and ministry in this way!

I went for a screening colonoscopy on April 10th. My GI dr had no reason to suspect anything abnormal, but indeed he did find something. I have a mass in my colon and my dr right away suspected cancer. Unfortunately he is right and a mere 22 days since have been full of many things. First, shock and then relief that they found it and hope that it is early. I have been poked and prodded and X-rayed etc.. Kent and I together were able to see the surgeon and the oncologist during his lunch hour. The surgeon said this is “ urgent but not emergency” for which I am very glad.

Surgery first! May 4th, at 7:30 am Pacific time. Then recovery for about 4-6 weeks and possibly chemotherapy. Much depends on the extent of the cancer and that is not known until surgery. In colorectal cancer they do not do the staging until after they remove the tumor.

I(Jan) met an oncology nurse in a local grocery store and we got talking. She gave me the name of her gastrointestinal doctor and told me to go to him. I did and I am so grateful to her and him. Both opened the doors to see the surgeon and oncologist more quickly. Monica, the oncology nurse is a personal friend of my oncologist, so he knew a lot about me when we met! I am ever so grateful for her help and she has become my new “best friend”!

Our lives have taken a drastic turn.. we didn’t anticipate it nor welcome this turn.. BUT we know God is with us as He has been all our lives! And we have reached out to over 100 people who have prayed for us over the 41 years of our lives and ministry. They are praying for us during this journey. I hope you will join them!

I regret to say that I am ending this blog. BUT if you would like to continue to follow us, there is a way you can do that. PLEASE send me your personal email address to janmreimer@yahoo.com and we will update people that way. So, sad to say this will be my last blog here. I will however continue sending updates to you personally. Please do not delay, as I will be shutting down this blog in the next week.

Thank you for following my blog. I have really enjoyed doing it. May God Bless you and keep you!

Gratefully,

Jan and Kent Reimer

PS before this diagnosis, we made a trip to see both our daughter and family and our son and his family. These are always very treasured memories, but more so this time!
